Turkish Airline have just started direct flights to Istanbul from Edinburgh; hence onward to BKK available. 1 hour stopover outbound, but 3 hours inbound (Still about as good as it gets from this departure gateway). £1990 return for Biz, and £523 for "cattle". They do have a premium economy but not sure of price for that.
Thanks for that - good info and anything that avoids LHR is a bonus. The premium economy service isn't available on the BKK route (yet) - it appears to be something that's only available on its 777s. AFAIR, the only other realistic options from EDI were via AMS and CDG - do you know if that's still the case?
How is the tram coming along?

Yes that was the case up to yesterday, I have seen connections through Berlin, but with seemingly too short a transfer time. The AMS & CDG tend to involve excessively long layovers one way or both. Thanks for that - good info and anything that avoids LHR is a bonus. Trams !!! Laughing stock of Europe ! I doubt whether I'll see one running before I move out to Thailand again permanently in just over 2 years time.
