Ditto for the next couple of years anyway;Especially if it is the 787, as their biz class set up looks quite impressive.

As anticipated, the opening of the new Doha Airport has been delayed until the second half of next year, oh well bus transfers until then I suppose.

Do they still have the dedicated Premium transfer lounge in operation at Doha until then?

Sometimes the bus transfers seem interminable as the damned thing goes all the way around the runways and getting into ground traffic jams.

Ye, pretty sure there has been no change regarding the business class terminal. I'm through there this Sunday, although only in Y this time. I read somewhere that a big part of the delay in the new airport was the finishing of the new lounges, apparently 250,000,000 US being spent on 17 lounges.

Depending on which stand your aircraft gets it can be a bit of a journey to the transfer terminal. Never been a problem for myself, but yes, will be nice when this part of the Doha experience is no more.

I am through there a few days after you in Biz class, and I recall my 2 previous trips had long transfer distances....... I have had an occasional quickie where the plane wasn't parked on the other side. Seem little point in my mind offering good on-board service if you are going to be jerked around during a transfer. Etihad had me change terminals recently which was also no fun. Getting too old for all these long hikes...

jacko, changing concourses is very commonplace. My airline operates from 6 of 7 concourses in Atlanta including the newly opened Reggie Jackson Terminal but of course it's the busiest on the planet. And to soothe those weary business class legs,we offer a minimum of 1 Club on every concourse, even the one we don't use for arrivals & departures.

Certainly, but as Etihad, for example, were supposed to have an Etihad only dedicated terminal. If I fly in and out on the same carrier, via their hub, I would expect not to have to traverse buildings, security and great distances. Having a lounge in each doesn't help unless they have some quick and comfortable way to transit you. Qatar have a dedicated Premium transfer building at Doha airport, They take you there from the plane in, and directly back to the plane for your second flight, I found that very good.

I had high hopes Heathrow, British Airways and the new T5 would be the same, but no, other carriers get access and it becomes too small or unsuitable to handle all BA flights.

I recall Atlanta and it being a big Delta hub.... and I am sorry to say that air travel in the USA is not the easiest. Simply too big, too busy.
