His Excellency Esam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, today confirmed that the Dubai Public Prosecution has completed investigations and closed the case involving a Swedish national who attempted to enter the UAE on an expired passport.

The incident started with the arrival of the accused with her daughter from London Gatwick Airport on board an Emirates flight. She attempted to enter the country using a Swedish passport, which had already expired on June 10, 2018.  She was advised by the immigration officer that she could not enter the country with an expired passport. She then produced an Iranian passport, and was informed by the officer that she could enter the country by issuing a new temporary visa, which allowed a 96-hour stay, and had to change her departure flight according to the new visa.

Ms. Hollman refused angrily due to the additional payment fees the process would require, and proceeded to verbally insult the immigration officer and take photos of the officer via her phone.

A legal claim was issued against Ms. Holman with charges of profanity and photographing a government official at the border crossing, a restricted area. The woman and her child remained together in the airport security office for less than 24 hours while services were provided to them, taking into full account and consideration of her 4-year-old daughter.  Her father received her immediately upon his arrival and they subsequently departed the country. The prosecution decided to drop the charges against Ellie Hollman and to deport her instead.

The British press obviously went to "press" on limited information about the whole incident.... They were willing to allow her to enter the UAE, on an Iranian Passport, but she had to depart within 96 hours... Obviously she didn't want to pay the cost of changing her return flight.

Interesting that she holds an Iranian passport, despite being born in Sweden.....

The facts are confused........She entered on a Swedish passport......then produced and Iranian one. She was told to depart immediately and that was the reason for the stand-off as another long haul with her daughter, she saw, (or used the excuse) that that would be problematic.

I guess we won't know the truth of it........Not in Dubai's interest to paint for themselves anything other that a compassionate picture......Not in this woman's interest to claim anything other than victimisation.

Interesting charges were dropped and Dubai has picked up the flight cost though.

Here's a taste of other cultural niceties that make our Swedish, Iranian look tame.......Particularly the last one.......(You won't be able to watch it through)...

This one must be Yoko's sister.........Bonko Oh No

Apparently she wasn't detained....but was offered a recording contract.....Forming a super group with Yoko and Bjork.

She tried to enter on an expired Swedish passport and when that was refused she suddenly produces a valid Iranian one.... They only offered her entry for 96 hours which would have meant her having to pay the cost of changing flights for her and her daughter.... That's probably the point at which she lost her temper........

Interesting that it took so long for the papers to pick up on the story as it happened on the 13th July....

Everything is always someone else's fault these days and people can't be responsible for their own actions!

It would be a stretch to even blame airport check-in staff at London, sometimes they are not carrier staff but an agent.

British man racked up £36,000 in speeding fines and now can’t leave Dubai

‘There is no way he has that money. He is out of work at the minute and went to Dubai to visit friends.

The Metro

Out of work, yet can afford a trip to Dubai and swans around in a supercar breaking the law.. but not his fault, What a wanker!
